Tuesday, 29 January 2013

[AUSTIN, TX]— The law firm of Hay Compere PLLC is proud to announce that the Austin Under 40 nominations committee has named partner John A. Hay III as a finalist in the Real Estate category, and partner David C. Courreges as a finalist in the legal category. This is the first year that Hay has been named a finalist, and the third consecutive year that Courreges has been a finalist. In 2011, Courreges was honored as one of the top young Austinites in the fields of government and public affairs, and in 2012 was named one of the city’s five top young lawyers along with fellow Hay Compere partner Karin Crump.

One of the founders, and managing member of the title department, of Hay Compere, PLLC, Hay practices in the areas of business, real estate, mortgage, family, and property law, is certified as a mediator, and holds a Texas Escrow Officers License. Prior to forming the Firm, Hay spent eight years in the mortgage industry, most recently as a managing member of Level Funding, LLC, a company rated in the Austin Business Journal's Top 20 Mortgage Companies in Austin. Additionally, he held his Real Estate License for over three years with Resident Realty, LLC and represented over $500M in mortgage and real estate transactions before founding the Firm. Hay was recently named to the Board of Directors of the Real Estate Council of Austin, Inc., and named chairman of the 2013 Lone Star’s & Angels Gala benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Courreges is the head of the firm’s government and legislative division, and practices in the areas of administrative law, association law, and mediation. During the course of 2012, Courreges served as president of the St. Mary’s Law Alumni Association– the youngest in the Association’s history, and as a member of the St. Mary’s University Board of Trustees. He was also president-elect of the Austin Young Lawyers Association, chairman of the American Bar Association Young Lawyer Division’s National Public Service Project “American Voter” (www.american-voter.org), and was candidate for the 2012 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year in which he raised over $27,000 for cancer research. In addition, David continued his work as the co-chair of the Central Texas Wildfire Legal Response Team, co-chaired the Austin Bar’s Legislative Committee, and helped establish the ABA/AYLA Leadership Academy.

Since 1998, Austin’s Young Women’s Alliance (YWA) and Young Men’s Business League (YMBL) have partnered to host Austin Under 40. During the gala, recognition is paid to emerging Austinites who excel in their prospective professions and exhibit strong participation in the community. While spotlighting these professionals, the awards also raise money for charities that YWA and YMBL support- the YWA Foundation and the Austin Sunshine Camps. Categories include: Austinite of the Year, Arts & Entertainment, Business and Entrepreneurship, Community Service & Non-Profit, Financial Services, Government & Public Affairs, Legal, Medical & Health Care, Real Estate, Technology, and Youth & Education.

The event will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013, at the Austin Music Hall and will honor the best and brightest young professionals in Austin.
