John A. Hay III announces Man of Year Campaign Benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Thursday, 25 February 2010

[AUSTIN, TX]—Founding and managing member of Hay Compere PLLC (www.haycompere.com), John A. Hay III, announced today his candidacy for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Man & Woman of the Year Campaign.

The national campaign, which began in 1990 as a memorial for a man who lost his battle with leukemia, raised over $7.8 million last year alone. Candidates compete for the most votes ($1 = 1 vote) with the men competing against the men and women against the women. In 2009, Hay Compere PLLC founding and managing member, J. Bradley Compere, received the Central Texas Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Man of the Year Award for his efforts in raising funds to aid individuals battling blood cancers.

Hay kicked off his fundraising campaign with his campaign team of Beth Coffey, Trevor Rice and Rich Coffey, and sent out over 500 letters the first night. Look for another 500 in the coming weeks, and maybe one in your mailbox! When asked about the campaign, John said, “Today I am asking for your help, to make a choice to help those who did not have a choice the day they were diagnosed, to help those who may be too young to understand, to help those families and individuals struggling to cope.”

With a lofty goal of raising $100,000 in ten weeks, the campaign team has planned several events, including a golf tournament and other great events where attendees will have a variety of ways to give.
