Hay Compere, PLLC adds former Texas Young Lawyers Association President Karin Crump as Partner

[AUSTIN, TX]—The Austin-based law firm of Hay Compere PLLC (www.haycompere.com) is pleased to announce that former Texas Young Lawyer Association president, Karin Crump, previously with Lakeside Mediation Center, has joined the firm as a partner.

Karin will lead the Alternative Dispute Resolution division at Hay Compere, where she will also practice in the areas of General Litigation and Family Law. She has fifteen years of litigation and mediation experience and holds the distinction of being an Advanced Credentialed Mediator by the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association. Karin has represented corporations, insurance companies and individuals in a wide variety of litigation, including complex first and third party insurance cases, personal and premises liability, medical malpractice, construction defect, worker’s compensation, and toxic tort cases. She also has extensive family law experience having handled numerous complex family matters, adoption, child custody, and property matters, and has represented children in CPS cases.

Prior to moving to Austin in 2003, Karin was selected as the Outstanding Young Lawyer of Dallas and was named in D Magazine as one of the Best Lawyers in Dallas Under. Since 2005, she has been named as a Texas Super Lawyer-- Rising Star in Litigation seven times and was named as the only Rising Star in Alternate Dispute Resolution by Texas Monthly Magazine twice. She has also been honored three times by the Austin Under 40 Committee as one of the top young Austinites in the fields of law and public service, was named a “Pathfinder” by the Travis County Women Lawyer’s Association for being a local trailblazer and role model for women, and was honored by St. Mary’s University School of Law as the first Distinguished Young Alumnus for her outstanding service to the public and to the legal profession.

While president of the Texas Young Lawyers Association, Karin was honored with an Emmy award for her role in the production of the historical documentary They Had a Dream Too: Young Leaders of the Civil Rights Movement, and was honored by the Texas Senate in 2007 for service to the public and contributions to the legal community. Karin also served on the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors and as a member of the Executive Committee of the State Bar of Texas, as well as the Texas Bar Journal Board of Editors, the board of the Texas Bar Foundation, and served two terms as the Chair of the Supreme Court’s Task Force to Expand Legal Service Delivery.

Karin is a 1997 graduate of St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she was selected as a member of the National Order of Barristers and as the recipient of the Judge Jack Miller Ethics in Advocacy Award, the St. Mary’s Award for Marianist Service to the Community, the Pro Bono Service Award and the Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Law School Community. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of the 1994 National Champion Speech Team.
