[AUSTIN, TX]— David C. Courreges, a partner at Hay Compere PLLC, has been awarded the Nancy L. Garms Memorial Award by the State Bar of Texas and Law Focused Education, Inc. The Nancy L. Garms Memorial Award was established in honor of Nancy Garms’ tireless service to the State Bar of Texas Law-Focused Education program. Award recipients must demonstrate an outstanding dedication to the advancement of local political and legal education.

Since becoming an attorney, David has assisted in the development and distribution of several law-focused education projects, including the production of the award-winning Vote America! Honor the Fight, Exercise Your Right, You’re Hired, Now What?, and the distribution of They Had A Dream Too! Young Leaders of the Civil Rights Movement. Over the course of the past six years, he has been responsible for over 150 in—school presentations to well over 10,000 students throughout the State of Texas. He is currently leading the creation of the 2012 American Bar Association—Young Lawyers Division’s national public service project, American Voter, which incorporates Vote America! and will be implemented in all fifty states, and throughout the world.

In addition, David is an adjunct professor at St. Mary’s University where he teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in legislative policy and procedure. He has also helped create and is the on—site administrator for the Frank J. Madla and Irma Rangel Legislative Internship Program sponsored by St. Mary’s University, and legislative externship programs for St. Mary’s University School of Law and Baylor Law School.
